The Competition Commission of Mauritius, in collaboration with the District Council of Moka held its fourth workshop on “Competition Law and Local Authorities” on Thursday 25th September 2014 at 13.00hrs. The event was held at the seat of ‘Professor J. Baguant Social Hall’ of the District Council of Moka in Quartier Militaire. Around 120 representatives, including officers and councilors, from the district councils of Moka and Flacq attended the workshop. The occasion was graced by the presence of four Honorable Ministers, notably Dr. The Honourable Rajesh Jeetah, Minister of Tertiary Education, Science, Research and Technology, the Honourable Cader Sayed- Hossen, Minister of Industry, Commerce and Consumer Protection, the Honorable Surendra Dayal, Minister of Social Integration and Economic Empowerment and the Honourable JIM Seetaram, Minister of Business, Enterprise and Cooperatives.

This event aimed at engaging the representatives of the district councils of Moka and Flacq into taking a firm conviction towards identifying potential anti-competitive practices, including bid rigging; and to adopt a pro-competitive approach in their day-to-day management and policy making. They were also briefed about the key aspects of the Competition Law and how it would relate to their work.​
