The Competition Act 2007 (the “Act”) mandates the Competition Commission to review certain merger situations. The assessment of merger situations has been laid down in the Competition Commission Guideline on Mergers, published by the Competition Commission pursuant to section 38 of the Act.

The Competition Commission is considering amending the Competition Commission Guidelines on Mergers and has published proposed amendments to two sections thereto, namely control and failing firm, along with an explanatory note to the proposed amendments. Interested parties are hereby invited to provide their views and comments on the proposed amendments by 23rd July 2020.
