The Competition Commission held a Validation Workshop on the proposed amendments to the Competition Act 2007 on 28 October 2026 at The Ravenala Attitude, bringing together stakeholders from the public and private sectors, as well as the legal community.

During the workshop, the Executive Director, Mr Vipin Naugah, presented an overview of the proposed reforms, outlining their objectives and intended application. This was followed by presentations from members of the Competition Commission’s team, with Ms Noor Eydatoulah addressing cartel agreements and exemptions, Mr Sudesh Puran discussing abuse of dominance, and Mr Sailesh Ramyead covering the new merger control regime.

Through their presentations and exchanges with stakeholders, the Competition Commission provided clarifications on the proposed provisions, their implications for businesses and the wider market, and how they seek to address challenges identified through its enforcement experience over the past 17 years.

The discussions also provided an opportunity for stakeholders to raise questions, share concerns, and offer perspectives on the proposed amendments, contributing to constructive exchanges on the future competition law framework in Mauritius.

Next steps: The feedback gathered during the workshop will be reviewed and considered as the Competition Commission works towards finalising the proposed amendments. The proposals will then be submitted through the appropriate government channels for consideration as part of the legislative process.

The Competition Commission thanks all participants for their valuable contributions and engagement.
